Our commitment to sustainable design is especially important in the Nursery where our youngest visitors explore, play and learn. Opened in 2004, the design was inspired by the Reggio Emilio approach to early childhood. Beautiful materials and artwork are complimented by the Museum's signature exhibit components, like the Bubble See-Saw and Light Peg Walls, creating a space that invites open-ended, sensory exploration.

In 2011, the space was renovated, expanding on this theme of tactile exploration of natural and beautiful materials. Additions included bespoke bamboo furnishings, original artworks and interactive sculptures. Other touchstone experiences, like the Train Tables and Sand Light Tables were expanded and updated with an eye to more inclusive play and accessibility.
