Allegheny Health Network’s Alexis Joy D’Achille Center for Perinatal Mental Health

Redesign the group therapy and children’s play rooms to provide tools and spaces that support the work and mission of the Center to improve maternal mental health outcomes as well as the parent-infant relationship.

about

Working with Allegheny Health Network Women’s Behavioral Health clinical staff, we redesigned two in-person patient spaces focusing on layering therapeutic childcare programming and developmental activities for young children whose mothers are receiving perinatal mental health treatment at the center. The facilities are part of Pittsburgh’s First Maternal-Infant Health Program and designed to improve maternal mental health outcomes as well as the parent-infant relationship.

Our design approach was to provide multi-layered experiences that add interactive and informal learning experiences for parents and children that support the services offered in person, as well as in-home programs and other outreach activities. CMP can provide space planning and interior design recommendations; fixtures, furnishings and Equipment plans; and professional development trainings for implementing the informal learning practices related to social-emotional learning activities.
