Center for Aviation Technology & Training (CATT) at Hosanna House’s Sherwood Event Center

an innovative collaboration with Hosanna House focused on creating a space for children and families to explore aviation and aeronautics.

about

We partnered with Hosanna House Inc. to open the Center Aviation Technology and Training (CATT). This new exhibition creates a space for the Greater Pittsburgh region’s youth to explore the field of aviation and aeronautics. Through hands-on informal learning opportunities rooted in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM), families can soar to new heights.

CATT consists of three main elements: a STEM makerspace and flight simulation lab, the Tuskegee Airmen Museum, and indoor and outdoor interactive exhibit spaces for children. The featured museum exhibit “Black Wings: American Dreams of Flight”, chronicles the story of African Americans, who, despite facing racial barriers, attained great achievements in the world of aviation.

Our contribution included creating interactive exhibits to expand aviation-related learning experiences, including a cockpit flight trainer, a Land the Plane maze, Wearable Wings, Airport Play table, and an Outdoor Play Space.

The “Black Wings: American Dreams of Flight” exhibit was organized by the Smithsonian Institution Traveling Exhibition Service (SITES) in collaboration with the Smithsonian’s National Air and Space Museum. The “Black Wings: American Dreams of Flight” exhibit was made possible by the generous support of MetLife Foundation.
