The REACH at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts

customized, fully accessible furniture, green practices and close design consultation highlight this project.

about

We worked with the education team at The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts to design their new education gallery and other interactive experiences for their new facility, THE REACH, a 21st century arts center that is designed to be inclusive, accessible and interactive. We provided design consultation for The Moonshot Studio, an all-ages maker space, and created a collection of custom cabinets, tables and multi-media kiosks that can be used for specific activities and coordinated with the striking interior finishes present throughout the facility. Collaborating closely with both the staff and their artists-in-residence, all items were designed as fully accessible and inclusive, following the latest standards for universal design available and best practices standards set by The Kennedy Center’s Office of Accessibility. All fixtures were constructed using locally sourced and sustainable materials.
